When I caught up with "Iron Man," a broken hip had delayed me and the movie had already been playing for three weeks. What I heard during that time was that a lot of people loved it, that they were surprised to love it so much, and that Robert Downey Jr.'s performance was special. Apart from that, all I knew was that the movie was about a big iron man.
I can watch Downey Jr as Tony Stark any day. With Seung-Yun Lee, Hee Jae, Hyuk-ho Kwon, Jeong-ho Choi. A transient young man breaks into empty homes to partake of the vacationing residents' lives for a few days.
After outing himself as iron Man, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) falls prey to the heady trappings of mega-celebrity, making a spectacular flying entrance to the opening of the Stark Expo, with cheerleaders and a thumping AC/DC soundtrack. The site of the expo is supposedly Queens, in New York, but although background plates were actually filmed in Flushing, most of the Expo is digitally created. Powered by Robert Downey Jr.'s vibrant charm, Iron Man turbo-charges the superhero genre with a deft intelligence and infectious sense of fun. "Iron Man" is an unusually good superhero picture. Or at least — since it certainly has its problems — a superhero movie that's good in unusual ways. Marguerite, offshore from Cannes of all places, still stands the rude stone fortress where the Man in the Iron Mask spent his lonely days. James Rhodes to take them down.
